Sage Northcutt: Creed 2 Workout Routine and Diet Plan
If you’re familiar with the Rocky film series, you’ll know that the spin-off ‘Creed’ movie back in 2015, was a financial and critical success.
So successful was it in fact, that it has spawned a sequel, which will begin shooting early in 2018.
Creed 2 will focus around Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky Balboa’s best friend Apollo Creed, who was killed in the ring by roided up Russian Ivan Drago, back in the 80s in Rocky IV.
Adonis will face the man who killed his father, Ivan Drago, who incidentally was played by Dolph Lundgren.
Now, we know that Dolph Lundgren still looks fantastic, but it wouldn’t seem right having a 60-year-old Ivan Drago, getting into the ring with a 30 year-old fighter in his prime.
So, who will be the main antagonist.
Well, rumours are that it will be Ivan Drago’s son, and that’s where things get interesting.
You see, Drago Jr is rumoured to be played by UFC fighter Sage Northcutt, and it is his workout routine and diet plan that we’ll be looking at today.
Who Is Sage Northcutt?
If you’re not familiar with the UFC, Sage Northcutt is the youngest UFC fighter in the history of the sport, at just 21 years of age.
He fights in the lightweight division and currently has an MMA record of 9 wins, with just 2 losses.
With his boyish good looks, and his brilliant blonde hair, it’s easy to see why he is heavily rumoured to be playing Ivan Drago’s son in Creed 2, as the two look very much alike.
As well as his good looks and his uncanny resemblance to Lundgren, Sage is also instantly recognisable due to his amazing physique.
He stands at 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 pounds of solid muscle, which is why we’ll be looking at his diet and training routine now.
Sage Northcutt Creed 2 Diet
Sage has been involved in martial arts since he was a very small child, and because of this he has understood the importance of diet and nutrition for decades already, despite only being 21 years of age.
All year-round Sage follows a super strict diet plan, but in training for Creed, he is really stepping things up.
He keeps his meals very clean and very basic, typically eating a protein source in the form of white or red meat, egg whites, or white fish, brown rice, and a serving of vegetables.
His diet is super-clean, and when you see his ripped physique, it’s easy to see why he’s in such great shape.
He aims to eat 5 – 7 meals throughout the day, all of which are super-clean.
He also drinks plenty of mineral water each day, aiming for a minimum of 2.5 litres per day.
Sage Northcutt Creed 2 Workout Routine
Though we don’t yet know the exact training routine Sage is following in preparation for Creed 2, it is believed that he will basically keep training the way he has for years.
Sage likes to switch up rep ranges to keep things fresh, he performs 2 – 3 working sets per exercise, and he likes to combine compound exercises with isolation work.
An example of Sage Northcutt back and biceps workout includes:
T-Bar rows – 3 sets of 8 reps
Sumo deadlifts – 3 sets of 5 reps
V-Bar chin-ups superset with Towel chin-ups – 3 sets of 10 reps per exercise
Superset barbell shrugs –2 sets of 2 reps with the bar in front, and then behind his body
Underhand cable pulldowns – 3 sets of 8 reps
Barbell curls – 3 sets of 8 reps
Reverse grip barbell curls – 2 sets of 8 – 10 reps
