They don’t require a gym membership and they can be done pretty much anywhere.

We can’t say for sure if he achieved this physique from strictly body weight exercises but it definitely demonstrates his calisthenic strength.

Plus it is free to train at your local park!

Calisthenics take advantage of many natural and functional movements.

You can also purchase a pull up bar or suspension training kit to excel your body weight training even more.

Free weight exercises take advantage at targeting specific muscle groups.

By being able to target specific muscle groups you can choose to strengthen and even grow that muscle group.

Isolation movements are achieved best with free weights.

Some body weight exercise enthusiasts will preach saying isolation exercise leave you more prone to getting an injury.

While this can be partly true because lifting heavier weights on a single muscle group will produce stress on your muscle, tendons, joints, and even ligaments.

Lifting with proper form and allowing enough recovery you can avoid injury in cases of free weight isolation exercises.

The same can be said for body weight exercises.

If you are preforming a body weight exercise and not using proper form you could leave yourself open for injury.

However if you want to improve at how effective you can move your body through day to day life than calisthenics are the way to go.
