Can You Eat Junk Food and Lose Weight?
First off lets give you a simple answer to this question that you all probably all want to hear.
YES you can lose weight by eating just junk food!
But before you go indulge in everything in sight.
You can only lose weight by watching your calories when you are eating junk food.
A nutritional professor from Kansas State University decide to give the junk food diet a try to see if in fact he could lose weight.
His diet consisted of mostly nutty bar, powdered donuts, and delicious Twinkies.
He lost a total of 27 pounds in 10 weeks from this diet!
The main point he was trying to make through this diet was that in order to lose weight all you have to do is count calories.
It doesn’t matter what kind of foods you are eating as long as you are burning more calories off than you are eating throughout the day.
How He Found This Out.
The nutritional professor from the study ate a total of 1800 calories from junk food and burned off a total of 2600 calories each day.
This put him in a calorie deficit meaning his body needed to utilize body fat as energy to make up for those missing calories.
The theory of calories in vs calories out has been proven by countless studies to work in diets designed for losing weight and building muscle.
What Are Calories?
Well calories are a measurement of energy for your body.
Your body requires a certain amount of calories throughout the day to function properly.
The food that you eat on a daily basis contains calories that your body needs.
Some foods have more calories than others making them more resourceful and nutritional for the body.
So know that you know that eating less causes you to lose weight is the junk food diet really worth it?
Is The Junk Food Diet Worth It?
When it comes to your health this diet is not worth it.
Your body would be better off on any old weight loss program like Nutrisystem or weight watchers instead.
Sure you can lose weight by eating just junk food in portions.
But junk food is not nutritional and it doesn’t not contain enough vitamins and minerals that your body needs.
Junk food does not have the macro-nutrients that other whole foods can provide you.
Foods like donuts and chips have processed sugars and saturated fats which have been linked to health diseases such as atherosclerosis and type 2 diabetes if eaten in excess.
It is also not an ideal diet for people looking to build muscle because it doesn’t contain enough protein.
It can actually reduce muscle mass if you already have a muscular physique and drastically decrease your protein intake.
To answer your question again on whether or not an all junk food diet can help you lose weight that answer is yet but it is not healthy for you.
It has a lack of protein and macro nutrients that you can get from much better quality foods.
In fact using a junk food only diet will leave you even more hungry because you will be eating less food throughout the day considering junk food is higher in calories.
