People will always attempt to lift record breaking weight whether they think they can do it or not. Sometimes these people succeed – setting another personal record for themselves and sometimes they fail potentially causing a serious injury – if the safety is not there. Failing at a lift doesn’t mean the end of your lifting career, but just another barrier you need to get past (as long as you don’t injure yourself). You should be aware of how much weight you can lift and should only attempt a new weight with a spotter at your side in case you need assistance.
