Arnold Schwarzenegger is a former professional bodybuilder. He began weight training around the age of 15 and won his first Mr. Universe title at the age of 20. Arnold won the Mr. Olympia contest seven time’s until he decided to retire from the stage. He is one of the most iconic figure’s in bodybuilding because he shaped the very foundation of weight training and taught people to never give up and that failure happens. A lot of the bodybuilders today still look up to Arnold as a mentor and a role model in the sport. To read more about Arnold see “15 Things That Made Arnold Great”
Below is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s workout routine. Arnold would follow this workout routine on a weekly basis with Sunday’s being his rest day. It is not an easy routine to follow and is meant for advanced bodybuilders and weight lifters.
Arnold’s workout routine was split into two groupings. The one of on the left is his workout routine for the days of Monday/Wednesday/Friday – he would train everything on the red list on those day’s. The other grouping to the right is his workout routine for the day’s of Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and again he would complete everything on the blue list on those days. Arnold would train 6 day’s out of the week and take Sunday’s off as a rest day.
This is a very different routine compared to what modern day bodybuilder’s are following. Most bodybuilder’s train with a split muscle group training method where each muscle group is individually trained each day of the week. These isolation techniques are good because they target an individual muscle allowing these athletes to focus more on lacking muscle group’s. Arnold grouped large muscle groups together but trained them more frequently through the week. This can also be very beneficial and effective depending on your training intensity and how fast your muscle can recover.
